This route is signed as Highway 88 in
both California and Nevada. It was a lot faster than I had figured. I
guessed it would be about as fast as US50, but in reality it is a 55
MPH road most of the way as long as it is not snowing or raining. It is
a great scenic route, and I did two great trips on it on 12/25/2004 and
4/12/2008.
88 is plowed with a much lower priority than I80 or US50. 104 meets 88 West of Jackson, in Amador County, and it was proposed to follow 88 to Martell, then head off separately from 88, then return to 8 briefly, and it is done east of 88 in the Sierras.
