G4 / San Tomas Expressway, Montague Expressway, and Capitol Expressway  Photos Index

These are from 6/6/2009, from 17 to 680, on an unusually pretty day. According to Wikipedia, San Tomas Expressway was built around 1962 and Montague Expressway was built around 1978. It was about forty minutes to drive both of them each way on a Saturday. I had never really done all of Montague Expressway before, and it is closer to the hills than you might think. San Tomas Expressway stops at Highway 17 but it was meant to turn into Capitol Expressway by Almaden Expressway. They have had diamond lanes a long time, and because of this these two expressways have been patrolled by overtime CHP much longer than the other county expressways out here.

My photos of Capitol Expressway are from 1/2013 and from 10/2008.

This is San Tomas Expressway North at Highway 17.
