This is near Clarksville in the Sierra foothills.
This is almost the last of the foothills. The valley is half visible through the smog. Usually when you come
down out of the Sierra foothills, you can only see maybe ten miles into
the valley. On smog free days, you won't believe how far you can see.
This is almost back in Sacramento. This is approaching the El Dorado-Sacramento County line. Sacramento has a distinct rush hour. This part of US 50 could have
been
Interstate 70. It was submitted to be an interstate, but it was
rejected. US50 officially ends in Sacramento, but it used to follow US99
towards Manteca.
