US101 South in Santa Clara County

I can't remember this stretch clearly, but before 1990 this railroad underpass was a doozy. This section was Old Bayshore Highway since about 1942.

US101 was only about two lanes wide each way through here before 1990.

This is about a mile north of Alum Rock Avenue (130.)

US101 is eight lanes wide north of Cochrane throughout Santa Clara County now. Before 1990, this overpass (Alum Rock Ave) was from 1942, with *original* concrete under the overpass. Width: two extremely narrow lanes!
