US101 North in Santa Clara County

JCT 280 and 680 on 9/29/2004.
The freeway is eight lanes wide now under 280 and 680, then it stays that way.

This is a good view of the flyovers. Prior to the early 1980s, surface streets were used to access 280 and 680.

This is about a mile south of Alum Rock Ave (130.)
Here US101 went from being very wide down to two very decrepit lanes with 1942 vintage pavement, under Alum Rock Ave. The section from 280 / 680 to 880 (old Highway 17) was a doozy before about 1991.

The old overpass was completely demolished. The pavement under it was original, from the old Bayshore Highway days of US101.
