US101 North in Santa Bárbara County

Pismo Beach is the second area where US101 North is close to the ocean. The next is 200 miles away. US101 follows the ocean here briefly, then heads into San Luis Obispo.
The pass north of town (Cuesta Grade) is a lot like Highway 17. It used to seem more dangerous to me than 17. It finally was upgraded around 1999 - 2003. Also, the aqueduct is being routed up Cuesta Grade. This is from July 10, 2005.
