This is before 156 West.

This section is pretty but also pretty dangerous. It has not been bypassed yet, thought that has been talked about for a long time. The bypass would be a shorter route than the existing US101.

156 West to Castroville. This is proposed to run to the west, to meet the US101 Prunedale bypass. A new interchange will be built by US101 and 156 starting in 2022. Also a new 156 expressway will be built to 183.
