Interstate 238 East in California

Most of these were taken April 10, 2004. This route is a controversial one for roadgeeks.  Route 238 is an interstate only from 580 to 880, and not south of 580. It was rejected as an interstate south of I580. It makes you wonder what kind of Route 239 would have been if it had been built. Would it have a miner's spade green sign or an interstate shield?
This section of freeway is being widened as of September 26, 2006. It will be six lanes wide from I880 to I580 when this project is done.

This first photo is from 9/29/2004. The overpass shown here collapsed while being built in 1990.

This is just past I880.

[I238 East]

This is about halfway between I880 and I580 on I238.

[I238 East]

Just before 185. This highway probably should be six lanes all the way from 880 to 580. It was improved in 1994, when Bart was added to the center divider. Before the direct connection was made to I238 from I880 I was on a ride out here and I saw "Stacie is a snitch" spray painted on a truck on the side of 185.
