87 North  (Guadalupe Parkway)

This is for my old photos of 87 North, and I am keeping these up because a lot of my traffic comes from Wikipedia's article on Highway 87, and I've had people write me who are curious about this highway. This is from October 4, 1987.

This is the ramp from I280 South to 87 North. The concrete below is for 87. The bridges in the lower part of the picture opened in the fall of 1992. They were under construction since 1985. Also the light rail line is going in here. A ramp to San Carlos Street was going in also.

Present day 87 has expressway and through lanes. 87 was temporarily not on the configuration through here that it is today.

This is 87 North on a detour near Julian Street. At this time the freeway ended close to here. You could get on Guadalupe Parkway and you could go all the way to US101.

This is by Julian Street and St. James Street. This section was rebar and wood just three months earlier. The freeway ended here until May 1988.

[87 North]

This is the Guadalupe Parkway north of the San Jose airport. This section was not a freeway until about 2004 and it was built on a different alignment than what is shown here. The bridges over I880 were removed around 2000.
