87 North  (Guadalupe Parkway)

This is for my old photos of 87 North, and I am keeping these up because a lot of my traffic comes from Wikipedia's article on Highway 87, and I've had people write me who are curious about this highway.

87 North in November 1987.
87 abruptly ended at Julián St. when this was taken, and it was signed as the "Julián Street Downtown" exit off 280. The through northbound lanes were under construction to the left in the next two photos.

The Santa Clara Street exit.
This exit appeared in 1986.

87 North at Julián St. in October 1988.
At this point, 87 was an exit from 280 to reach downtown and the airport. This section of 87 has changed very little, from May 1988, until 2000. Starting in December 2000, the Guadalupe Freeway (or Parkway) was being worked on north of Coleman Ave. The overpass just past the Julián St. sign was built from 1987-1988. In the distance lies a "signal ahead" sign, south of Taylor Street.
The main jail is the white high rise, and the county building is the dark colored high rise.

This is before Julian Street in October 1988. The freeeway was only open north of here for a few months.

This is right past I880. The freeway is over this spot and it was built above ground level. These two are from October 1988.

[87 North]

This is after I880, from October 1988.
