This is just north of Blossom Hill. This part of 85 was built by San
José and is
paved and signed a bit different than the other sections. Many road
side signs
don't have button copy at the time of writing (basically a lot like a
Nevada highway sign.) This may
have changed with the new state sign program.
This section was built two to three years before the rest was done, in
fact some parts
were started around 1985, and fully at work by 1988. The interchange
with 87
was only half finished due to a recession cutting into property tax
revenue.
It was supposed to have been finished by another Measure A (from 1992)
and
yet another in the late 90s.
The missing ramps opened in May 2004.

Boulevard South
This is from November 2004 of 85 North by 87 North.
Between 87 and Almaden Expressway. This part was opened in August 1993, when 87 was opened down to 85. You can see a half removed bottleneck arrow in the middle lane. 85 was open from Great Oaks to Almaden from early 1992 until July 1994.
85 drops right after this and the pavement is wiggy past Almaden on 85
North.
