280 South in Santa Clara County

  This is approaching 87 in May 1988, and this is about the time the 87 interchange sign went up on 280. 87 was not complete until 2004 as a freeway, even though some of the pavement was complete by 1970.

 

This is the old exit sign to 87. This was in October 1987.
Note the absence of traffic. This was taken on a Saturday morning years ago.

Here is 280 taken from the air in 1988. This part of 280 has changed little since then,  except  for a new lane in the center divider near US101.
