1 South in California

This is the San Mateo - Santa Cruz County line and part of Big Basin Redwoods State Park.
This reminds me a lot of US101 near Ventura and Santa Bárbara.

This is just north of Davenport.
1 has some brief but very steep climbs near this town.
Davenport has a huge plant of some sort  in town. You can see it from here.

17 North

This is from Diedrik Edholm of Highway 1 South by Mar Monte on 6/28/2014. This is by Mile 433.

1 South near Watsonville, in January 1989. Note the funky speed limit sign. This part of 1 is now 65 mph. If you take 129 and head west, you have easy access to Sunset State Beach, which the most scenic beach I have seen in the Bay Area.
