180 West and J1 West in Fresno County

180 heading west near Howard Ave in June 1994. The Diablo range is visible starting about here.

[180 West]

This section was resurfaced around 1997.

[180 West]

180 approaching San Mateo Avenue, a few miles East of Mendota. There is a giant sugar plant (Spreckel's Sugar) located here. The sky is as clear as it gets here (in October 1995.) During the summer, it is smoggy, during the winter, it is foggy.

[180 West]

You can barely make out the Sierras in this picture. Normally during the summer, you will only see them at sunrise. The smog makes very dramatic sunrises (purple, orange, red, etc.) and it makes the mountains crystal clear.
