This is 165 South entering Hilmar. This was from 10/1998 in Merced county. 165 links 99, Los Banos, and Interstate 5. This runs near the Kesterson National Wildlife Refuge.

After passing 140, 165 goes through a lot of marsh land and National Wildlife refuges. Even in the middle of summer, there is a lot of water at the side of the road. These wildlife refuges were contaminated and then cleaned up in the 1980s.
