156 West in Monterey County

This set is taken west of US101 on 1/21/2011, from Prunedale to Castroville. This is an official scenic route. All of 156 is a scenic route, though the scenic route signs on the section multiplexed with US101 aren't up, likely because of the high accident rate in that area. This is the second set of highway photos I have posted online of this section. 156 will be turned into an expressway on a new alignment from US101 to Castroville Boulevard starting in 2022.

This is five miles past US101 and JCT 183 in Castroville. A traffic light has been by 156 and Castroville Boulevard for years. Though that was not always the case. Castroville Boulevard leads to housing developments. An interchange will be built at Castroville Boulevard and 156.
