156 East in California (Scenic Route)
These first three are from Trevor Carrier from 9/25/2009. 156 is a
freeway for the first mile or so. These first three are by JCT
183. 156 is a scenic route from Highway 1 to US101. 156 will be
turned into an expressway on a new alignment starting in 2023 up
to US101. The highway was built originally in 1942. Blackie Road

183 is also proposed to be a freeway or expressway to Salinas.

This is by the entrance from 183. The rest of these are from 1/21/2011. I had been meaning to replace my photos past 183 for quite a while! It is five miles to US101 and 25 miles to Hollister from here. 156 is proposed as a freeway or expressway to US101 from this point.

This is one mile past 183. Through traffic does not have to stop at this light on 156 East. This is by Castroville Boulevard and this light has not always been here. Also an interchange will be built here.
