12 South in North Carolina
These are all from the summer of 2007 courtesy of Brian. This is
going
south on Route 12, in the northern part of Avon. The
ocean is to the left, while the sound is to the right. For the
most
part,
businesses
will be on the right side, and houses will be on the left.
This is nearing the central part of Avon. If you stop at a gas
station
on
the Outer Banks, you might just see very old gas pumps that
probably
date back
to the 1950s.
Around here the middle of Avon, which is probably best known by
one of
the
Outer Banks' only decent-sized shopping centers. This area of land
is
probably
wider than most of the Outer Banks.
Driving through Avon.
This is in southern Avon. There are a lot of houses around here.
This is leaving Avon. Note how the speed limit jumps from 35 to 55
here.
Just south of Avon.
This is in between Avon and Buxton.
Note how "thin" the land is here.
This is headed for Buxton. Over that dune to the left is a beach
and
the ocean.
This is entering the town of Buxton.
This is probably right around the middle of Buxton.
