This is south of Bradley. US101 has a lot of fast S curves like I10 or
US290 near Sheffield,
Texas in this section.
This is near a military base. This area gets very hot in the summer,
and the
elevation is higher than other parts of US101 in Monterey
county.
This is a big S curve south of Bradley. US101 reminds me somewhat of I10 in West Texas through here. The terrain here is far too lush to be West Texas, but it is the way the road has very wide, fast curves, like that particular part of I10. The speed limit here is 70 MPH, but not for much past this point. The elevation will continue to rise until Cuesta Grade, north of San Luis Obispo. The rest of this set is from April 1995, up to San Luis Obispo County.
The rest area is the next exit. This is the first rest area in
Central California on US101.
