This is leaving San Martin on Monterey Highway. Caltrain actually does run through here, but not 24 hours a day.

This is by the new government building center in San Martin. San Martin is still a small town but Morgan Hill and Gilroy have much less of a small town feeling now.

This section was four lanes wide as far back as the late 1950s. This is near Masten Avenue. Usually traffic is pretty light on this section of Monterey Highway. I never did this part of it before the freeway was opened, so I don't know what it was like back then.

The stretch to Gilroy is usually pretty sparsely traveled.
