Interstate 15 North in San Bernadino County

Note the sparse snow cover on the peaks to the left. This is from February 2002, and there normally is much more snow here than you see. 2001-2002 was a drought year for Southern California.

Approaching 138, which would have been a freeway to bypass the metropolitan area completely. It was to rejoin I5 in Gorman as a freeway connection from I15 to I5.

Getting ready to climb up the mountain pass.

[I15 North]

This mountain grade seems much shorter, and generally easier, than I5 through the Grapevine. Looking to the east near Cajon Pass. The two directions of the highway split up, like I5 at Wheeler Ridge. This mountain pass sees some snow. It is formerly US395, US66, and US91.
