G11 West (San Juan Road) in California
This is a right turn off US101 South. To get to this road from US101
North,
you have to make a U turn further up the road. Likewise, if you are
taking
G11
East, you can only turn right onto US101 South. The section of US101
near
G11 is not a freeway and some
improvements
were made here (decades overdue) on US101. This route is much
faster than 152
(from US101 to Highway 1), and it is faster
than even 129,
with
its array of slower turns. The grade has passing lanes on both
sides. I've never done this
east bound so I don't know how steep the other side is.
It runs through several housing developments and has a good vista
(shown
in this picture) of the coastline.
It then goes through Pajaro, a town that flooded in the soggy El
Niño
years of the 1990s. There is access to 129 and 1 in the Pajaro and
Watsonville
area. This set is from 4/26/2011 and July 1996.
This is just past US101. This gas
station was taken out to make the new
interchange.
