This is the first time you see King's Canyon itself.
The surrounding mountains are in the Sequoia National Forest and the
Sierra National Forest. Their elevation is between 9000' and 11000'.
Five miles east of Hume Lake Road and the elevation is 5000'.
This area burned in 1992. Even in 2000 it still hadn't grown back much.
These pictures are from 1995 and 1997.
Just east of here, there is a store that sells good ice cream. 180
continues to drop until you arrive at the larger section of King's
Canyon
National Park. This is where I turned around on two trips through here.
From here on, 180 goes through a deep, scenic river canyon for many
miles.
Five miles east of Hume Lake Road. (Elevation
5000'.)
This stretch is subject to being closed in the winter.
This is looking deeper into the mountains.
